IoD Admonishes Private And Public Sector, Expose Plans For SMEs

The Institute of Directors (IOD ) Nigeria is pushing for a revolution to bring professionalism back to some relevant sectors in the country.

Seeking to play a role in the development of the country, the institute has recently amonished all relevant stakeholders, both in the public and private sector, to abide with the corporate governance practice to bring progress to Nigeria.

Speaking to newsmen in Lagos on Tuesday, the President of the group, Ahmed Rufai Mohammed, complained of how the civil service have lost the features which made it a model that was being emulated by various other organizations.

According to him, some years back, various bodies in the country look up to the civil service as an appropriate model, in terms of governance and other leadership skills.

He made it known that the Institute of Directors was created essentially to look at the private sector of the country, because the sector was left without the kind of leadership it ought to have.

Rufai stated that IOD  organises leadership development programme, with emphasis on general knowledge and governance.

The President also said that the group has plans to introduce the young director’ s forum for small and medium scale enterprises in the country, which would help tackle challenges they encounter in their businesses.
