Apparently, the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) is busy with its job to ensure sanity is brought back to the Nigerian system and eradicate the flow of substandard goods in the country.

Recently, the organization has destroyed substandard products that are worth over eight million naira in Kano State as part of the efforts to achieve its aim.

The products, which includes expired foreign rice, substandard mosquito coil, fake shaving sticks, fake electrical cables, substandard fertilizers, substandard automobile break fluid, as well as some empty sacks of rice were burned at Yankatsari Yangongon.

Speaking to the press before the exercise, Alhaji Yunusa Muhammed, the organization's Kano/Jigawa States Coordinator, made it known that the acts of the perpetrators were busted by the combined efforts of some patriotic Nigerians and some genuine manufacturers.

SON's Regional Coordinator North West, Alhaji Abba Adamu Bauchi, also witnessed the exercise.

Muhammad told newsmen that the necessary laboratory tests and analysis were carried out on all the goods that were destroyed to determine their quality status. The products were destroyed after it was confirmed that they are indeed harmful to the people.

The SON's official also reiterated the organization’s commitment to continue battling substandard and life endangering products in the country.

He admonished perpetrators to quit or get punished by the law.
