Don’t display expired goods for consumers, Kafin-Hausa LG instructs traders

fin-Hausa Local Government in Jigawa State has asked traders plying their trades in the area to always see to it that goods displayed for consumers carry expiry dates and that their shelf life are regularly checked.

Alhaji Isyaku Muhammad, the Head of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Department of the council, gave the advice while speaking with newsmen in Kafin-Hausam some hours ago.

Isyaku also asked the traders to stop  displaying their goods in sunray, and he added that the council would henceforth seize all expired goods and ensure the prosecution of the culprits.

“ Traders, especially those in villages, are warned to desist from selling expired goods like Coca Cola, biscuits, juice, among others or risk being prosecuted.

“We have been mandated by the state Ministry of Health to confiscate expired goods and hand them over to the state Consumer Protection Committee for necessary action,” he said.
