Spokesman for Customs, Saidu Nuruddeen Abdullahi said the figure shows about 76 per cent of the revenue target allocated to the Command in the year under review.
Controller of the Command , Mohammed Uba , applauded the officers for their commitment and dedication adding that the achievement was recorded through the sacrifices they made amidst intimidation and threats .
He said that the Command will create more strategies to ensure that all revenue leakages are blocked and expressed the command's readiness to ensure that the new target for the year is met.
The Seme border, located along the Badagry Express road, is one of the most busiest in the country. It directly linked Nigerians with neighbors Benin Republic - and both had been benefiting from the trade relations for years now.
Nigerians have a penchant for visiting Benin Republic to get goods at very cheap prices, and mainly sell the stuffs for big profits in the country. Despite restrictions by the Nigerian government to prevent the importation of certian products, many citizens continue to push them into the country through illegal means.
