NPA introduces automated billing to improve transparency

The Managing Director , Nigerian Ports Authority ( NPA) , Hadiza Bala Usman , has assured stakeholders in the maritime sub - sector of management ’ s commitment to improve its operations this year in order to enhance the sector's growth.
Bala Usman gave the asuurance in her New Year message and expressed enthusiasm over the Authority's determination to introduce a web - based billing and revenue collection application , fully automated for the entire billing circle of the NPA among others.
She also assured terminal operators and port users that the Authority would further open its doors to all players to surpass various barriers with a view to providing a healthy and smooth environment for all stakeholder's.
Bala Usman also noted that the Nigerian Port Authority is making efforts towards the swift evacuation of cargoes from the Nigerian ports to the hinterlands .
She noted that the Authority has partnered with notable organizations , including the Federal Ministry of Works , Power and Housing for the reconstruction of bad roads within the ports axis for effective and efficient service delivery across board .
She also hoped for improved collaboration with other agencies in the industry to achieve a more impeccable operation in the ports environment , with the intention to reduce human contact .
