CAC facilitate with lawmakers for passage of CAMA Bill

The Corporate Affairs Commission ( CAC), has expressed joy over the passage of the Companies and Allied Matters Bill by the National Assembly

It noted that the act showed the cordial relationship between the two Chambers of the 8 th Assembly .

It should be recalled that the Bill originated from the Commission , and was passed by the Senate on Tuesday , May 15 , 2018 . However,  it was finally passed by the House of Representatives after Third Reading on Tuesday , January 22 , 2019 .

The objective of the Bill is to make the process of starting and growing business in the country easier, enhance transparency and shareholder engagement, create more appropriate regulation for MSMEs,  align regulatory framework with international best practice for competitiveness and , in the context of a global economy , make Nigeria an investment destination of choice .

Meanwhile,  Acting Registrar - General , CAC, Lady Azuka Azinge, noted that the bill represents one of the biggest piece of legislative review in the history of the National Assembly .

Similarly, CAC spokesman , Godfrey Ike, also said that since the statute similar to present one just made  was enacted almost 30 years ago and there has not been significant change since then.
