Federal Government works towards eradicating e-fraud

The Federal Government of Nigeria has made it known that it would create a strategy that will help address the menace of financial fraud using telecoms/ electronic platforms that keeps punching the reputation of the country.
We also gathered that the Nigerian Communications Commission ( NCC) , is working with the country's apex bank - the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN ) - as well as the Nigeria Police , and other relevant agencies in the country to curb this menace.
Minister of Communications , Mr Adebayo Shittu during a stakeholders' forum said the incidence of financial fraud through telecom platforms is now common in the society.
According to him, the menace has led to the loss of reputation and income , adding that there has also been direct financial loss of billions of Naira in the financial services sector , e - commerce , and telecommunications .
Shittu condemned the the high rate of identity theft , stressing that government is working towards eradicating the menace.
Executive Vice Chairman of NCC, Prof . Umar Danbatta, also expressed worry over the use of technology to defraud people noting that mobile apps are now quite easy for hackers and cyber criminals to carry out their mission.
